ASIA - Prices of live hogs and pork in Asia were mostly up during the week ended December 1. The approaching Christmas and New Year holidays have helped driven prices slightly higher this week.

In Thailand and Taiwan, live hog prices registered marginal gains in the past week. Prices of pork rose significantly in Thailand, Japan and Taiwan.
With higher demand of pork expected in the festive season, pork prices in the Philippines are likely to rise in the near term.
