Latest edition of The Pig Journal published
UK - The Pig Journal which is published bi-annually in association with the UK's Pig Veterinary Society has announced that the latest edition, Volume 54 (2004), is now available for purchase.
Journal 54 covers the following topics:
Refereed Section:
The refereed section contains two papers on Porcine Proliferative Enteropathy, one on its impact in high health herds and the other on the new Vaccine which is being introduced by Boehringer Ingelheim in Europe in the near future. There are also two papers on outdoor rearing of pigs and the effects of early weaning on performance and peri-parturient infections.
Education Section:
Immunology Part 3 - 'The battle between the immune system and pathogens' has been kindly written by Dr Eileen Thacker from Iowa State University, and concludes her three part series. There is also a colourful Quiz on enteric diseases by Prof. Stan Done.
Proceedings Section:
This section contains 11 papers from the PVS meeting held in Cheshire in May 2004. It includes the Richard Potter memorial lecture, given by John Mackinnon, on Seasonal Infertility, as well as papers on AI, Leptospirosis, Porcine Circoviruses, Salmonella Control by vaccination and Formi, Growth promoter Alternatives, Hepatitis and PRDC.
General Section:
There are reports on the Elanco Swine Symposium, IPVS Hamburg 2004 and a sponsored student paper on Passive Immunity Transfer and PMWS development in piglets.
