BPEX Seeks Technicians and Scientists
UK - The British Pig Executive is seeking Technicians and Scientists to manage its Knowledge Transfer Programme. This is the first implementation of the newly launched Research and Development Strategy to place the British Pig Industry at the cutting edge of Europe.
The success of the multi-million pound Technical Innovation Plan will be dependent upon
the success of the Knowledge Transfer (KT) Team. The KT Team will be responsible to the Director of Pig Industry
Development, and will identify R&D priorities at industry level; run Demonstration Trials, Monitor Farms and Benchmarking
Schemes; liaise closely with the newly identified Development Centres at Thirsk/Newcastle/Leeds and at Bristol; work
directly with pig businesses; and be involved directly with high level training and technology transfer to producers,
processors, veterinary surgeons and others.
Candidates will be self motivating, innovative, enthusiastic, and wishing to develop their career in a dynamic industry. They will
probably be graduates or postgraduates of veterinary science, agriculture, animal/meat science, or business management and be
aware of technology and knowledge advances in Europe and North America. They will possess the skills required for the posts or
willing to rapidly extend their skills base to meet the needs, and will be pig- and technology-aware.
