Recovery From Pig Farm Fire Could Take Months

MINNESOTA - Officials estimate a weekend fire at a pig farm near St. James caused more than $1 million in damage.

The early-morning fire killed about 8,000 nursery pigs and destroyed four hog barns on Friday.

Charles Peters is president of Gaylord, Minn.-based Wakefield Pork which owns the livestock. He called the losses devastating.

They are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze at the Brian Henderson farm. Peters says the pigs were insured, but it could take weeks or months to replace them.
