L-R Front: Lyudmyla Romanyuk Vira1, Tim Rymer Chairman, JSR Genetics Ltd, Paul Anderson, European Sales Director. Back: Peter Shelton, Genetics Sales Director JSR, Serhiy Voytyuk, State Veterinary Consultant Ukraine
Based on JSR Genetics Large White Grand Parents and Genepacker 90 Gilts and Landrace Grand Parent and Yorker Terminal Sire line Boars, the herd will initially be approximately 700 animals, with further expansion expected in the near future. The deal between JSR Genetics and the well known Ukraine, food business 'Vira 1', whose trade mark 'Pan Kurchak' represents the first venture into pigs for the Ukraine team.

JSR is working with 'Pig Production' consultant Paul Wright who helped in the selection of the JSR Genetics package and Angus Chambers, from JSR Pig Production, who will be working locally for the first year to ensure the herd is established quickly and effectively.

"The drive in the Ukraine market is towards quality and productivity, explains Miss Romanyuk. "We knew we needed help, not just in the supply of genetic material but in a more general sense to make sure this venture takes off as it should!" The reputation that JSR has for producing pigs that yield high levels of quality meat in the high value cuts was key in our choosing to work with them in the Ukraine."
