Speaking at the signing Dorel Simiz, the Director General of SC Consinterfin said, "We knew that if we wanted to be competitive with the rest of Europe in the future, it was important to make a significant step forward in our pig breeding programme. We researched the entire market and after visiting the UK to meet the JSR team, we decided that they offered the best combination of highly effective science together with a practical and supportive attitude towards their customers."

JSR will be supplying Dam lines from their 'Genepacker 90' and '105' breeding programme and Sire lines from 'Quantum' parent boars. The objective is to create a new, 450 sow, nucleus herd in Romania, which will allow second generation progeny to influence breeding on a far wider scale.

This is one of a number of key projects currently being undertaken by JSR as they continue their rapid expansion into the developing East European market. "The SAPARD funding made available through the EU has been effective in enabling this deal to be completed in a timely fashion; it should see the Romanian pig sector improve massively going forward," said JSR Genetics European Sales Director Paul Anderson.
