To date, some 1800 cattle and 300 pigs have reportedly contracted the disease in the province. Epidemic zones are concentrated in the Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh, Dien Ban, Nui Thanh, Dai Loc and Hiep Duc districts.

Vaccinations for vulnerable pigs and cattle in the province have been mired in a shortage with only 27,465 doses of vaccine administered, a local veterinary official admitted.
