ZAP Level 3: 75 percent or more of meat juice samples tested positive for salmonella were positive.

ZAP Level 2: equal to or more than 50 percent but less than 75 percent of samples tested were positive.

ZAP Level 1: less than 50 percent of samples tested were positive.

Within the first six months of entering ZAP Levels 2 and 3 all holdings will be required to draw up and implement an action plan and undertake microbiological testing. The action plan can incorporate salmonella controls into revised hygiene and management procedures that should also help to control other diseases on your farm.
