THE VOICE OF THE UK PIG INDUSTRY

NPA is active on members' behalf in Brussels & Whitehall, and with processors, supermarkets & caterers - fighting for the growth and pros-perity of the UK pig industry.

Bacon has been part of the British culture for centuries and, whilst it is regarded as a staple of the traditional cooked breakfast menu (as well as the ultimate hangover remedy), a host of premium quality bacon cures available across the country mean that bacon is the perfect ingredient for lunch and dinner too.

British Bacon Education Week has been established to give bacon fans the chance to stand up and be counted. From an appreciation of bacon’s rich heritage through to enticing the uninitiated into trying the delicious variety of quality cures on offer, British Bacon Education Week will celebrate in style the popularity of bacon.

Silvana Franco, chef and television presenter, said: “When people think about bacon, the first thing that comes to mind is the bacon sarnie and people often overlook bacon as an ingredient in its own right. But the fabulous flavours you can get from different bacon cures make it a perfect addition to so many recipes and we’re very lucky in Britain to have so many premium bacon cures readily available to us.

British Bacon Education Week is a great idea as it will give people the opportunity to appreciate the versatility of bacon and hopefully, start introducing it into their cooking repertoires more often.“
