Christensen Farms Midwest proposes building three 51-foot-by-310-foot confinement buildings with below-ground concrete pits on 10 acres in Section 15 of Grimes Township.

The buildings will each have a capacity of 2,496 animals or a maximum of 6,240 head of finishing swine.

Plans are for the confinement feeding operation to be built on property acquired from Joseph and Renee Nelson just west of 4667 140th Street.

The application meets the threshold for the master matrix, a scoring system to evaluate location of confinement operations, said Tom Drzycimski, administrative officer for Cerro Gordo County Planning and Zoning.
