Japan retains appetite for U.S. pork despite import rule change
US - As US beef exports to Japan remain in flux, pork exports continue to rise steadly in spite of producers' concerns about new import rules. Before the rules went into effect last May, producers in Nebraska and Iowa were confused, and were worried that a single animal in violation of the rules could jeopardise the lucrative Japanese market.
However, once information about the regulations became clear, pork producers said that working within them was quite easy.
