Between them, the levy boards take £164,000 a day from British farmers and growers and DEFRA says they must be more accountable to levy payers.

A new non-elected BPEX will replace the existing format and the organisation says it makes sense for pig farmers to air thier views.
Pig producers are being urged to take part in BPEX meetings to be held across the countru this month:

Meeting dates and venues are:

  • Driffield Rugby Club, Monday, June 18
  • The George Hotel, Leadenham, Tuesday June 19
  • The Grange Hotel, Bury St Edmunds, Wednesday June 20
  • Harper Adams, Tuesday June 26
  • Exeter Market, Wednesday June 27

The meetings will start at 6pm and end at 8pm with a buffet.
