Meat sector yearbook published

UK - The Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) has published its meat industry Yearbook 2007. Detailing the UK meat sector in figures, from farm to fork, it is a major new publication from MLC economics and provides 140 pages of valuable information, with historical comparisons going back up to 20 years.

Data is presented for the UK as a whole, with separate breakdowns for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Mappiing also illustrates the density of livestock in all counties and regions of the UK.

Farm costings for selected cattle, sheep and pig production systems are also listed and are a unique feature for the publication. It also explains the workings of the Common Agricultural Policy and how it applies in the UK.

Senior Market Analyst Sue Fisher said that the Yearbook is a comprehensive guide to the industry and containd a wealth of vital information. "This is the first time we have produced such an all embracing publication which will be of huge importance to all in the red meat industry," she added.
