According to the MLC’s European market survey, INAPORC argues that in order to cover rising feed costs, sustainable farm-gate prices need to be around €1.57 per kg dw, rather than the current price of €1.25 per kg.

In August the feed cost is said to have accounted for 66 per cent of French costs of pig production. The delivered feed barley price was almost €261 per tonne, at September 6, up €38 on the week and more than double the price a year ago.
