The sow herd is predicted to drop 20 per cent next year.

South Australia Farmers Federation pork committee chairman Butch Moses says prices for feed grain are already at a premium with producers paying up to £162 a tonne.

Farmers are praying for significant rain this spring. Consumers have been warned to expect increased prices in the shops.
