The retailer says the move reinforces its commitment to supporting British farming.

Chairman of National Pig Association Stewart Houston, who last week applauded a commitment to all British pork by Morrisons, said he welcomed Sainsbury’s price initiative.

"Sainsbury’s has listened to what we have been saying and has acted to help, and to secure its supply chain of high-welfare British pork in these difficult times."
