Australian Pork Ltd. Welcomes New R&I General Manager

AUSTRALIA - Australian Pork Limited is pleased to welcome Dr Darryl D´Souza, who has been appointed to the position of General Manager, Research & Innovation. Dr D´Souza completed his PhD studies in 1998, at the University of Melbourne, and has worked in a variety of management roles within Australia´s pig industry organisations.

Most recently Dr D´Souza was Asia-Pacific Technical Manager (Pigs) for Alltech Biotechnology, where he provided support to key accounts in the region. This included customising technical information, research and development, as well as coordinating the Premier Pig Program for the Asia-Pacific region.

“I am looking forward to moving into a new and challenging role as APL R&I General Manager,” Dr D´Souza said.

“There are many issues surrounding Australia´s pig industry, especially in this current climate, and I am keen to contribute to the future of the industry.”

One of Dr D´Souza´s first projects will be to assist in putting into place six APL Specialist Groups comprising technical experts. These groups will work towards pursuing and assisting APL to achieve its strategic objectives.

APL Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Spencer is delighted with the new appointment and said Dr D´Souza will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to APL.

“I certainly look forward to working with Dr D´Souza and the opportunities that will come from bringing new skills into APL and the wider community associated with Australia´s pig industry,” Mr Spencer said.

Dr D´Souza began in his role at APL on 19 November, 2007 and will replace the former General Manager - R&I, Dr Geoffrey Annison.
