International Award for Hendrix Genetics
NETHERLANDS - Hendrix Genetics has been recognized as 'Business of the Year 2007' by the Dutch-Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Zeist, the Netherlands.Thijs Hendrix, President of Hendrix Genetics received the award from Canadian Ambassador Jim Wall during Canada Food Day.
'The Business of the Year' is awarded annually to a Dutch or Canadian firm that has performed particularly well in the preceding year. Over the past years, Hendrix Genetics has established itself as a dominant player in expertise and sales of animal breeding stock in Canada and worldwide. Previous winners of the award were companies like DSM Biologics (2003) and Nutreco (2001).
"This award is a great honour for the company and recognizes the successful link between the Netherlands and Canada in Hendrix Genetics," stated Thijs Hendrix.
The award was presented during Canada Food Day, where Dutch companies and institutes were briefed on business, investment and research opportunities in the food and agricultural sector in Canada.
Hendrix Genetics is a major force in the animal breeding sector. In Canada, over 350 people are employed in the company’s operations. The company is a leader in breeding for turkeys (Hybrid Turkeys), layers (Institut de Sélection Animale – ISA) and pigs (Hypor). The company is the leading supplier in Canada in all three species.
Export first
Hypor has recently delivered the largest single shipment of live hogs from Canada into China by air. The consignment 816 breeding pigs from the company's nucleus farm in Saskatchewan, Canada landed in Qingdao, Shandong province in China to stock the first stage Hypor’s joint venture farms in China. Production is expected to begin during December.
