THE NETHERLANDS - Dutch SPF Nucleus breeder Hendriks has purchased its own truck to transport feed from the mill to its breeding farms.![]() |
All marked up. The new truck is reducing potential health risks |
Biosecurity is the main reason behind the TOPIGS breeder's initiative.
Having its own transport lowers the risk of disease entering the units and /or the breeding stock becoming potentially contaminated. The lorry is also helping to control costs and improve labour planning, says the company.
The truck has a capacity of 16 tonnes and carries the TOPIGS livery. It transports about 125 to 150 tonnes of feed a week.
