High Health Unit Opts for Own Transport

THE NETHERLANDS - Dutch SPF Nucleus breeder Hendriks has purchased its own truck to transport feed from the mill to its breeding farms.

Biosecurity is the main reason behind the TOPIGS breeder's initiative.

Having its own transport lowers the risk of disease entering the units and /or the breeding stock becoming potentially contaminated. The lorry is also helping to control costs and improve labour planning, says the company.

The truck has a capacity of 16 tonnes and carries the TOPIGS livery. It transports about 125 to 150 tonnes of feed a week.
