NPA endorses the move, because this commitment is important as it demonstrates best practice by a regulator and can be used, should the occasion demand it, to show Trading Standards and other regulators, that their people should also be prepared to follow sensible biosecurity requirements.

However, if producers are to insist on inspectors showering in, they should ensure the showers and dressing rooms meet reasonable standards. They should be warm and clean and have doors that can be locked to ensure privacy.
