UK - The British Pig Executive says that pig farming is disappearing before our eyes - and its new advertising campaign is proving just that.

A view of the pig industry. BPEX's new e-campaign features a diappearing producer

A forthright e-advert has been circulated through email and the internet urging people to sign the 'British Pigs are Worth It' petition and commit to helping the beleaguered industry.

Andrew Knowles BPEX Strategy Co-ordinator, says that rocketing pig feed prices mean farmers are losing up to £26 on every pig produced. The industry is losing £6 every second - that's £3.6m a week, and the increased prices that consumers are now paying need to be passed back down to farmers.

"If you care about preserving British pig farming and your right to choose where the pork you eat comes from," he added.

BPEX is calling for the public to support our petition and asking everyone in the industry to promote it wherever possible.
