Saskatchewan Agrivision is an industry led organisation with representation from all sectors of agriculture. One of its long term policies promote the expansion of livestock production in the province and it says the current pig crisis warrants government intervention.

In local reports Agrivision President Red Williams says Saskatchewan needs a healthy pork sector as a feed grain customer And in the past, development in the pork sector has been strongly encouraged by governments and the private sector because it represented a significant value add opportunity for the struggling feed grains industry.

Mr Williams is calling for three immediate steps to be taken to help the pork industry. A no interest loan A timely payout from CAIS An immediate payout of 300 dollars per sow liquidated, retroactive to 1 September to be fair to those who have already cut back production.
