The Scottish Pig Industry Strategy, set up by the Scottish Government as the sector reached crisis point in the wake of escalating feed costs is inviting pig farmers to open meetings in Old Meldrum on Tuesday 3rd June and Perth on Thursday 5th June.

It’s a chance for farmers to influence the task group that’s been established to identify measures across a broad range of areas that can help ease the sector back into profitability.

Bob Yuill of SAOS, who is coordinating the consultancy task group said: “This excellent team with hands on expertise of the pig industry, are making inroads into developing a practical strategy for the Scottish pig industry,

“The workshops will be a two way discussion to examine and agree the priorities for a programme going forward, with feedback from the industry to keep the team focussed on practical solutions for the Scottish pork supply chain.”
