The Society owes them a great dept of gratitude for all the hard work they have done in making sure that the Journal was produced and delivered on time, to such a high standard. We wish them both a long and happy retirement.

Janice Hellawell, the PVS secretary will take over the additional duties of the Journal secretary and will be the focus at the relocated office at Thirsk. All correspondence should be directed to Janice at [email protected] (tel. +44 (0) 1845 522065). She will be assisted by Jacqui Walker, who will take over the co-ordination of the production of the Journal and supervise the distribution.

I will also be standing down as Chairman of the Publications sub-committee, which oversees the production and editing of the Journal. I took over from Terry Heard in 1998 and, over the last 10 years, have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Pig Journal staff and seen it make the transition from a proceedings to a fully refereed journal.

Professor David Taylor, will take over from me in the summer and will be supported by Professor Stan Done our Editor-in-Chief and Dr Dan Tucker on the sub-committee. We also welcome Dr Helen Miller onto the sub-committee to bring her bright new ideas and experience from the pig production side, to add to the strong veterinary medical side.

I hope the Pig Journal will continue to thrive in the future, in its new format and would like to thank everybody involved in the production of the Journal, its editing and also the authors of all the papers that have been sometimes cajoled out of them, for their kind support over the last 10 years.

David Burch (Past Chairman)
