The current discussion topic launched on the weblog is "Quality management in the pork production." The guidelines for food safety and quality give those in charge enough leeway to implement their own controlling systems. Enterprises can take advantage of this to improve production and business operations. How the implementation of own controlling systems works, in particular in the enterprises, can be discussed by visiting the Q-PorkChains weblog. Input for initiating the discussions is offered in form of a presentation made in cooperation with the Wageningen University (Netherlands), University of Bonn (Germany) and GIQS (German abbreviation for “Trans Border Integrated Quality Assurance”).

To catch up with international experience and launch an exchange of opinions and views, the international Q-PorkChains network will address current discussion topics concerning pig and pork production at regular intervals.

The aim of "Q PorkChains" is to improve processes in the pork production. It is till now the largest EU research project in this area. It is coordinated by Professor Anders H. Karlsson at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The project partners are from the areas of market research, animal production, meat science, molecular genetics, quality management and agricultural economy. The subprojects reflect all facets of the pork value chain.
