KUALA LUMPUR - Over 20,000 residents staying near the proposed RM100 million pig-rearing project in Sepang are disgusted by the closeness of the facility to their homes, reports the New Straits Times.

Kampung Tumbuk village head Mohd Tarmudi Tushiran said the project's site was fewer that five minutes away from the nearest village.

"The pig farm that we visited in Germany last year is located five hours away from any human settlement.

"Despite their impressive and modern ways of running a pig farm, the Germans located the farm far away from people. "We don't have anything against pig farming. Our main concern is its location.

Several memorandums have been submitted to the Selangor government to protest against the pig farm, which once completed, would relocate all small farms in the area under one roof.
