Animals rights group Animals Australia has extended an advertising campaign protesting against practices in the pork industry, reports ABC News.

Gayndah producer Paul Taylor says Australian producers are leaders in animal welfare, so the advertisements are only damaging the progress the industry has made.

"It might affect them emotionally, but if you just look at it it's ludicrous suggesting that a pig thinks like a three-year-old child, that's really what I can't get over," he said.

"If they stoop to using a child on such a complex issue what else would they stoop to in further campaigns?"
