ASF Grips Russia

RUSSIA - The veterinary authorities have sent a further follow-up report to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on the deteriorating African Swine Fever (ASF) situation.

The authorities sent the report - their seventh - dated 29 October. It covers a further 18 outbreaks of ASF, all in the same region of North Ossetia-Alania near to the border with Georgia.

In total, 1472 cases were identified in pigs. There were 1469 mortalities and 9973 animals were destroyed. In addition, two wild boar were affected and destroyed.
