Pig Feed Production Reported to Be Down 15%

UK - Retail production of pig feed was down 15 percent in August this year, compared to August 2007. Average price of pig feed was 3218 a tonne, from April to June 2008.

Use of wheat in retail production of all animal feed is down over 13 percent on the year (August 2008 compared with August 2007). Barley is down 5.7 percent. Total raw material use is down 9.9 percent.

Figures for August 2008 against August 2007 show cattle and calf feed production down 10.1 percent, compounds for dairy cows down 8.1 percent, poultry feed down 4.6 percent, and sheep feed down 27 percent.
