However, according to Bernama, the location of the project is under study as the previously proposed location of Kampung Tumbuk in Sepang near here would be revised due to opposition from many quarters.

Agricultural Modernisation, Natural Resources Management and Entrepreneurial Development Committee chairman Yaakob Sapari said the state government was still studying the location to ensure it was suitable.

He said that if the residents protested, other locations would be considered, adding that it should be completed latest by year-end.

Yaakob was speaking to reporters after receiving a memorandum at his office here this evening, from the Malaysian Muslim Solidarity Movement (PPPIM) chairman Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad, opposing efforts to develop the pig-rearing farm.

A similar memorandum was sent to Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim in early August.

Several months ago, the state government approved the setting up of the pig-rearing project worth about RM100 million.

Zulkifli said the memorandum was handed over to Yaakob, proposing that the project be relocated to another area, such as Pulau Ketam.
