Slovenian Ministry Warns of Swine Fever

SLOVENIA - The agriculture chamber has warned against local producers about the possible entry of 'pig plague' (swine fever) to the country.

The Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reports that the Slovenian Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry (KGZS) is concerned over a decision by the European Commission to allow meat products from Croatia to enter the EU market despite the danger of the pig plague.

Several outbreaks of the disease were recorded in Croatia in recent years, also near the border with Slovenia.
