The Shakespeare Swine Seminar is an education event for hog producers and allied industry personnel that features local and international speakers on topics of importance to those in the swine industry.

The day long seminar will feature Dr. Friedrich Osterhoff and Hans-Peter Witt who will discuss swine production in Germany and European insurance schemes. Dr. Tim Loula from the Swine Vet Centre in Minnesota is another featured presenter speaking on the most effective approach to swine health in a down market and how to deal with PRRS in hog dense areas.

Preventing barn fires, reducing energy costs and increasing pig profits are some of the other topics on the day’s agenda. Producers also won’t want to miss Revenue Canada’s Scientific Research and Experimental Development Tax Credit program session in the afternoon.

The seminar will take place November 18th, 2008 from 9:30 am – 3:00 pm at the Shakespeare Community Centre. Cost is $20 if you preregister by November 14 and $25 at the door.

Funding for this project was provided in part by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Adaptation Council’s CanAdvance Program. Supporting contributors also included the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs, Ontario Farm Animal Council and Ontario Pork.
