With the export business still not having restarted completely, the selling side causes the trend to be uneven throughout Europe. Prices prove to be weak in Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Germany.

The UK, now having quoted for the first time after 21 December 2008, were able to push prices to increase by a corrected 7 cents. In Sweden, the price increased by 1.5 cents, going up to a corrected 1.147 euros per kg slaughter weight.

The quotations in Austria, Spain, France and Germany were reported to fall by a corrected 5 cents. Almost proceeding as normal, the Dutch prices followed, falling by a corrected 4 cents, compared with last week’s prices. The Danish, French and Irish quotations remained on last week’s level.

Trend: Currently, the next few slaughter weeks’ development is not yet foreseeable with regard to the quantities on offer. On the demand side, sales are expected to improve until the end of this week.
