PIC has been operating in Bulgaria since 2004 and the production and sales in Bulgaria are managed by the PIC franchise called Agroconsult Engineering Ltd based in Stara Zagora.

A successful and well attended PIC seminar was held in Stara Zagora on Thursday 27 November 2008. “Genetics and Technologies in Pig Production”, attended by over 40 people, aimed to help Bulgarian farmers to get the best from their PIC genetics.

There were presentations from four international speakers, John Alexander (PIC Europe), Catalin Lapuste (PIC Romania), Gus Verhaag (Fancom) and Guy Bonte (Roxell) plus Dr Milen Iliev from Agroconsult Engineering. The presentations covered biotechnology in modern pig genetics, gilt acclimatisation, gilt management, climate control, feeding systems and an interesting talk on benchmarking and how to motivate staff.

The seminar was held at the four star Calista Hotel & Spa just outside Stara Zagora in central Bulgaria and following the presentations a Gala Dinner was held with dancing into the “wee, small hours”.

PIC Europe would like to thank Agroconsult Engineering for organising the seminar and also to Fancom and Roxell for providing speakers.
