ASF Recurs in Southern Russia

RUSSIA - A reoccurence of African Swine Fever in southern Russia has been reported.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received Follow-up Report No.7 on Friday, 30 October, from Russian veterinary authorities.

The disease continues to be monitored at a village in the Rostovskaya Oblast of Southern Russia.

The outbreak is reported to have occured in swine. The source of the outbreak is still under investigation.

A couple of tests, direct immunofluorescence (DIF) test and polymerase chain reaction (PCR), were conducted and the tests confirmed the presence of ASF virus in swine.
