The three main sponsors of this Congress and the Committee of the EPP-Dutch Branch have signed the sponsorship agreement and come together for this event with nearly 70 interested participants.

The congress, which is organised annually by one of the national EPP branches, will take place in 2010 for the second time in the Netherlands. The organisation of this Congress - where hundreds of participants are expected from over 20 countries - brings a high level of costs and work with it. Therefore, the EPP-Dutch Branch is very pleased to be supported by the three sponsors Boehringer Ingelheim, Hypor and ForFarmers.

EPP was founded in Herning, Denmark 1990 under the roof of the DLG (German Agricultural Society). So, in 2010 EPP celebrates its 20th anniversary. Therefore the congress 2010 has three main topics: information, communication and celebration.

The Congress starts on Wednesday, 26 May 2010 with the celebration ceremony “20 years of EPP”. Memorable moments of the last 20 years can be shared in a cosy atmosphere at the opening of the congress. On Thursday, 27 May activities and excursions are beneath the EPP general assembly on the agenda. On Friday, 28 May, the Dutch pig farmers will show their guests all over Europe the advantages of pigs produced in the Netherlands. Within the symposium “Some pigs are more equal than other pigs” top representatives from the Dutch pig sector will look forward and discuss their views in an interesting way with the audience.

A lot of information and lectures by excellent speakers on current topics of the pig sector will be presented to the participants. The Dutch EPP branch gives a broad overview of the pig production chain in the Netherlands. Therefore also a number of farm visits are planned. "See, feel and touch pigs” is the Motto for the excursions on Saturday, 29 May 2010. The congress ends with the traditional Gala Dinner in the old castle of Maurick.

The communication is ensured through a number of activities by the participants from various countries who get in contact with each other to exchange about new knowledge and experiences in their regions. This applies not only to members; EPP is also open for those people who simply want to feel only once the atmosphere.
