Zhenzhou City Commerce Commission laid down the rules before a pig is killed as a part of a humane slaughter campaign. Quoting Henan Business Daily, ShanghaiDaily.com reports that they said a peaceful slaughterhouse would add more flavor to the pork, reported Henan Business Daily today.

Music should be played and butchers need to help the pigs to relax, the officials said. Any slaughterhouse found violating the rules will be fined 50,000 yuan (US$7,324), according to the officials.

An advocate of the humane killing techniques told Zhenzhou Evening News that he had never heard of any mandatory rules like this. Slaughterhouse owners are complaining about the cost of meeting the new rules.
