JBS Reports Higher Net Revenue in Q4 of 2009
BRAZIL - JBS, one of Brazil's leading meatpacking companies, reports that its pork unit obtained a net revenue of $605.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2009, up 0.8 per cent compared to the same period in 2008, where the net revenue was $600.5 million. This reflects an increase in production volume, partially offset by a reduction in sales price, a consequence of unfavourable market conditions in relation to the fourth quarter of 2008.
Compared to the third quarter of 2009, the growth in revenue was 8.3 per cent. This revenue growth reflects an increase in volume sold due to better market conditions because of the seasonal factors during the period, partially offset by a reduction in sale prices.
During 2009, the net revenue was reduced, indicating a global crisis that still affects important markets, as well as the adverse effects caused by H1N1 influenza.
