Brazilian Pork Export Volume Down 10 Per Cent

BRAZIL - For the first two months of this year, pork exports were down 10 per cent in volume and up three per cent in value.

According to figures from the Brazilian Pork Industry and Exporters Association (ABIPECS), pork exports for 2010 to the end of February were 75,356 tons, down 10.1 per cent from last year.

However, average prices (in US$) were 14 per cent higher and so the value of the exports for this year were up three per cent compared to the same period of 2009 to a little under $174.3 million.
