VIET NAM - Viet Nam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has instructed local administrations in areas affected by blue ear disease, also known as Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) to beef up control and extend awareness of the disease situation in affected provinces.

The Prime Minister stated that affected provinces and cities must strictly ban transportation, slaughtering and selling of pigs in outbreak areas, and spend their budget to control and prevent the spread of the disease.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has dispatched inspection teams to all the affected localities and instructed them on preventive measures, reports Asian Agribiz.

The ministry said PRRS has hit six provinces, namely Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh and Hai Phong.
