The People’s Choice BBQ Contest, sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health, features three of Iowa’s top competing Pit Masters. The two-day event will occur on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 June, near the Pfizer tent, #60, north of the Varied Industries Building on the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

“World Pork Expo is about reconnecting with people, learning about new technologies and practices related to pork production, and having fun,” says Gary Robertson, marketing manager for Pfizer Animal Health. “We are pleased to sponsor this new event, which promises to enhance the Expo experience.”

Baby back ribs will be the featured meat on Wednesday followed by pork sausage served on Thursday.

“Three of Iowa’s award-winning Pit Masters will compete each day,” Mr Robertson explains. “We encourage everyone to come out and sample the pork, talk with the Pit Masters and cast your vote.”

The sampling and voting will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The People’s Choice winner will be announced at 3 p.m. daily in the Pfizer tent area.

• Big T’s Q Crew of Ames, the 2009 BarbeQlossal Champion and Iowa BBQ Society Team of the Year
• Iowa Outlaws BBQ of Des Moines, the 2009 Nebraska State BBQ Champion
• Ponderosa BBQ of Des Moines, the 2009 Iowa BBQ Society Top Five Team of the Year
