Brazil's pig meat exporters' association, ABIPECS, has reported the export figures for the year to May.

For the first five months of 2010, pig meat exports were 222,745 tons, which is 7.4 per cent below the corresponding figure for 2009.

The US dollar-value of those sales, however, was up by 13.4 per cent to just under US$544 million. This makes the average price so far in 2010 to be $2,442, which is 22.4 per cent higher than last year's of $1,995.
