Russia Reinstates Tyson Pork Plant

US - Russian authorities have reinstated a Tyson Foods pork plant as an eligible exporter to that country, according to an update by USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service on its website.

According to Meatingplace, the update states that product produced at Tyson’s Columbus Junction, Iowa, facility on or after 24 November 2010, is eligible for export to Russia.

Russia banned Columbus Junction in the late spring of 2009 because, as its food safety agency said at the time, “E.coli and mesophilic aerobic microorganisms and optionally anaerobic microorganisms have been detected.“
