According to statistics from the South African Pig Producers' Organisation (SAPPO), almost half of this volume (1,227 tonnes) came from Germany, with Canada supplying 655 tonnes and smaller amounts from France, Belgium, Spain, Ireland, US and Denmark.

Almost 60 per cent of the imports were ribs, with almost 39 per cent described as 'other cuts' and just two per cent as hams and shoulders.
