Brazil's Pork Exports Lower in March
BRAZIL - Pork export volume in March was more than 11 per cent lower than in the same month of the previous year and the value of those exports was also down marginally in US dollar terms.According to ABIPECS, Brazil exported 44,299 tons of pork in March 2011, which is 11.6 per cent less than the same month last year. The average price per ton in US dollars – $2,652 – was 11.2 per cent higher than one year ago. The value of March's sales was almost US$117.5 million, which is 1.7 per cent less than in March 2010.
For the year to date, the volume exported was 118,168 tons, 5.8 per cent below the equivalent figure for 2010. The value of those export is up 5.9 per cent at almost $311.1 million. The average price is $2,632 per ton, which is 12.4 per cent above that of one year ago.
