As a result of changes in the exchange rates, the corrected quotations slightly went up (by one cent) in both Great Britain and Sweden.

Reports are coming in from Spain saying that large quantities of pigs mature for slaughter are on offer there, which was a decisive factor lately for local price reductions. But the majority, too, of the remaining EU member countries are announcing large quantities of pigs being on offer which, however, can be marketed without any problems. In pork sales, problems are caused by ham and other high-quality parts while other parts are being sold smoothly.

Trend for the German market: Most of the marketers received many registrations for pigs mature for slaughter for the days ahead. Since the slaughter companies show much interest at the same time in the batches available, the quantities are being sold swiftly. With temperatures being expected to be summery over the next few days, many a household will be starting the barbecue again. Moreover, ever more holiday-makers return from their summer holidays. It remains to be seen over the next few days whether or not the positive atmosphere will in fact result in a price increase on Friday.
