July Pig Meat Exports Drop in Volume and Value

BRAZIL - The volume of pork exports in July dropped by a little over 17 per cent compared to the same month last year, and the value of the exports dropped by about 13 per cent in terms of US dollars.

According to the latest figures from ABIPECS, Brazil exported 36,104 tons of pig meat in July, 17.52 per cent less than the same month last year. The average price per ton in US dollars - $2,600 - was 5.14 per cent higher than a year ago. The value of sales in July was a mere US$93,854 million, indicating a drop of 13.28 per cent, compared to a year ago.

For the year-to-date, the total volume of pork exported was 302,956 tons, down 3.35 per cent compared to a year ago. The value of exports, however, rose by 7.74 per cent at US$829,120. The average price of pig meat according to July figures is $2,737, up 11.48 per cent compared to a year ago.
