Russia Reports Eighth Outbreak of CSF

RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported yet another outbreak of classical swine fever, also known as hog cholera.

The World Organisation for Animal Health received follow-up report no. 8 yesterday, 23 August. According to the report, the disease was detected at a private subsidiary holdings in the village of Merchanskoye. The affected population consisted of 22 adult pigs and 12 suckling piglets.

A total of 34 animals were found susceptible, out of which 22 cases were identified. All animals were destroyed.

The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive to date.
