Stand after stand of meat products - stands with pork, beef and chicken, and even Yorkshire Game is there with its dead hares and pheasants suspended from hooks in the ceiling.

The halls are packed with meat products, eating venues and keen salespeople. It's Anuga, and it’s big! More than 6,500 businesses are currently exhibiting at Europe’s largest food trade show, Anuga in Cologne, and among the most popular stands is the joint stand of Danish Crown, Tulip and ESS-Food.

Visitors can hear more about the companies’ products and enjoy the delicacies produced by Nordic Chef of the Year Kenneth Hansen, who usually performs his amazing cooking skills in the kitchens of the seaside hotel Svinkløv Badehotel in northern Jutland.

So far, his efforts have been hugely successful.

"We are thrilled that people are so interested in our products, and we have had far more visitors than expected," said Innovation Coordinator Anne Bak Nielsen, who is responsible for all the practicalities at the trade show.

No end to customers

On Sunday, Danish Crown had so many visitors from all over the world that it was quite difficult to talk to them all, but the smiling and flexible staff ensured that everyone left the stand happy - especially those who had also had a bite to eat.

"Our visitors have been very enthusiastic about the food. It was praised endlessly, and there is no doubt that it helps to attract more customers whom we then have a chance to talk to," said Ms Nielsen.

She is looking forward to the next few days, which will hopefully see no decline in Danish Crown’s popularity in Cologne.
