Russia Reports Two New Outbreaks of CSF
RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported two new outbreaks of classical swine fever in two regions - Krasnodar Krai and Vladimirskaya Oblast.The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 11 yesterday, 6 October. The report states that the affected population in Krasnodar Krai comprises swine, while in Vladimirskaya Oblast, it consists of wild boars also known as sus scrofa.
In the case of swine, a total of 50 animals were found susceptible to the disease, out of which 14 cases were identified. All 14 affected animals died, whereas the remaining 36 were destroyed.
In the case of wild species, 30 animals showed signs of susceptibility, out of which three cases and three deaths were recorded. No animals were destroyed.
The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
